|Physical Health| Lift weights everyday.

Everyone has their own body. It is theirs to take care of. I found through my experience that the best way to take care of my body is daily weight lifting. Not heavy and long duration workouts, only 30-40 minutes of hypertrophy training on a rotating split of muscle groups.

There are countless well documented benefits to lifting weights. I don’t have any unique insights to add to those. However, I will list the downsides of not lifting. I assume with high probability if I ever stop lifting weights, the following will happen:

- Decrease functional ability

Without regular weight training, everyday activities whether it’s carrying groceries or even just maintaining good posture will become more challenging. The strength and mobility you build in resistance training translate directly into how effectively you navigate the physical world.

- Loss of muscle mass and strength

Muscle atrophy is a real consequence of neglecting resistance training. What took years to build can start to diminish within weeks. This loss doesn’t just affect appearance; it impacts overall physical health, increasing the risk of injury and decreasing physical resilience.

- Reduced metabolism

Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than fat. By losing muscle mass, your metabolism slows down, making it easier to gain fat. This metabolic slowdown not only affects physical appearance but can also lead to health issues like obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

- Decreased Business and career performance

Physical strength is closely tied to mental resilience. The discipline, focus, and energy that come from regular weightlifting spill over into every other area of life, including business and career. When I lift weights daily, I’m sharper, more focused, and more effective in my work. Without that, I know my productivity and performance would suffer.

- Loss of gym community

Regular interactions with like-minded individuals who share similar goals are important for health.

- Overall decreased quality of life

The cumulative effect of losing strength, muscle mass, metabolism, mental resilience, and community is a significant decrease in quality of life. The physical and mental benefits of weightlifting cannot be ignored. Stopping would mean a physical and mental decline.

The choice to lift weights every day is about more than just physical fitness, it’s about maintaining a high standard in every area of life. I am grateful that I have the bodily capability to execute every workout and I will continue as long as I can so I can perform at my best, both physically and mentally.
